Writing Page Titles & Descriptions

Before writing Page Titles and Descriptions it is a good idea to consider what words would be important keywords for your page. Keywords are words that people would type into a search engine, such as Google, if they were looking for the type of information your page is about.

For example, if your company was the Acme Tool and Die Company people looking for tools and dies would, quite likely, type the words tool, die, and perhaps the area they live (ie: the area you serve). If they were looking for your company specifically, they would most likely type Acme.

Keep in mind: Keywords that you place in a Page Title or Description must also appear in the content of your page. Otherwise Search Engines will ignore the keywords and give you a lower ranking.

Page Titles

Page Titles are extrememly important for good Search Engine results. They appear in the tab of a browser and explain to both humans and search engines what the web page is about.

Page Titles should contain important keywords to help the search engine determine what the page is about. But they must also be easily human readable as they are what appears as the title in Search engine results and also in bookmarks.

DON'T DUPLICATE Title Tags: They must be written differently for every page. Don't mass replicate your title tags.

Make It Relevant: Title tags must be written to be descriptive of the content on the page. (e.g., the About Page would be: About | Important Keywords | Company Name or Important Keywords | About Us | Company Name
